Properties of accounts

An account has the following properties :

  • whether it is a 'Normal' account or a special account ;
  • Balance Sheet or the Income Statement (and in that case, whether it belongs to Expenses or Revenue) ;
  • how the postings on this account deal with VAT : if it will never be associated with one, or if VAT is optional, or if VAT is mandatorily to be chosen.

These three properties are inherited from the Chart of Accounts as loaded when OGA's very first use ; for instance, an account '4001' will inherit of the properties of the nearest account as proposed in the Chart of Accounts : there checking first the existence of a '4001' account, then (if it does not exist) the existence of a '400' account... ; the '4' account being set as the bottom line.

These properties can of course be modified afterwards.
