File and folder rights
General rights regarding files and folders are set individually for them, through , as accessed via a right-click on the object.
On the pop-up as illustrated as an example below, the following is featured :
- general information on the object such as creation/last modification dates, creating user... ;
- a series of rights menus.
Those rights aim to specify for each user group if its members have the right to read, create, delete, modify this file or folder. When a menu is left as 'Unspecified (see Others)', the right as defined further down as 'Default right:' then applies.
When a file or folder is created, by default all of the menus are set as 'Unspecified' and the 'Default right:' is set to Delete/Create/Modify, which means that, unless permissions are updated, any user from any group can perform these actions on the object.
If object is a folder, the 'Apply to sub-objects' check-box can be ticked so that the rights are also applied to the objects under this folder.
